It was a great honour & fun participating in the event in dialogue with the
@fitzmuseum_uk collection and The William Blake Exhibition, William Blake’s Universe.

It started with the poem on the wall in my studio I got told to remove it from one of the tutors since she thought it was not related to my research. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to explain how and why William Blake’s work was very influential to my work and I didn’t listen to what I was ordered to do. Thankfully @janejaneyleeee spotted this poem and made the connection to my work.

Thank you @ponchan871 for leading my speech about Sorokdo (소록도) and islanders. It was very meaningful to me to introduce these people who battled through immense suffering due to leprosy but were able to survive with their resilience and love. I hope that we can do more to remember them and help heal the collective trauma they experienced.

In conversation with the Fitzwilliam Museum exhibition William Blake’s Universe, the Museum Late event explores the theme of conflict beyond borders, looking at the tension between imperialism and continental artistic exchange, feminine and masculine romanticism, as well as the destructive and regenerative power of art in a time of war.
